NSR 105

NSR - The Revival

NSR made an unexpected return in March 1995 for one weekend. Deemed the “NSR Revival”, NSR returned using the Pulse FM test transmitters that were operating on 103.2 and 99.15 at the time. Pulse was due to launch on that month and would go on to be a huge dance station over the following four and a half years. While Pulse was testing, NSR made a return using its transmitters, and was also relayed on the original NSR 105.3 and 107.2 frequencies by Coast 103 for a full weekend. This was the final farewell for NSR and the station signed off with Level 42’s ‘To be with you again’.

The NSR studio is still standing at Merville Rd in Stillorgan, and, unbeleivably, still has the last record on the turntable. The ariel pole on the chimney of the house was removed in 2001 as it posed a hazard to international aviation. This pole sported a wide array of antennae over the years, including folded diploes, a VHF beam, and UHF antennae for ‘special activities’ carried out during 1999.
